"Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans."
John Lennon's famous line perfectly sums up my 8 Million Steps journey - in fact I think it sums up all journeys, of all people - nothing ever happens in exactly the way we imagine it would.
When my walk along the Mediterranean was cut short by a back injury on the cliffs of Provence, it took me a long time to accept the new reality: no more walking! Now, any distance over 500 metres turns into a major feat of endurance... At the rate of 500 metres per day, it would take 12,000 days (or 33 years) to reach Istanbul from where I stopped.
Ever since that unfortunate setback, I have been keeping busy filming, writing, painting, working on different projects in between hospital visits. The nature of the 8 Million Steps may have changed, but the spirit lives on.
To start with, I am sharing a few projects that you may find of interest: a documentary film about Southern Italy, an exhibition of "tattooed" portraits of flamenco artists, an illustrated tale of adventures, and some more intimate pieces. I'll be adding more in the future, if and when I find sufficient inspiration and energy to produce new material.
